Are you aware of what is needed for the smooth and efficient work of the whole team?
In our experience of working with European companies, it is a short daily meetings.
If you organize it properly, it shouldn’t take too much time and will help to get the work process up and running quickly.
So, to make these meetings as effective as possible, we base them on three main questions which are answered by each member of the team:
1. What was done yesterday?
2. What will be done today?
3. What is getting in the way of the day’s plan?
(If something is in the way).
However, even here there are factors that can cause everything to go sideways:
1) Expectation.
Don’t waste precious minutes waiting for everyone. Those who didn’t make it in time are too late.
2) New topics and ideas.
A daily meeting is not a planning session, it’s a status meeting. Don’t forget that.
3) Long “swimming” in different directions.
Those who like to talk long and much should remember that every “lyrical digression” hurts the overall effectiveness of the meeting. Everything that team members say should be of value to everyone.
Over time, by following simple rules, the team leader will be able to provide the team with interesting and productive 15-minute meetings to which everyone will come with pleasure, not just for the sake of “ticking the box”.
And what are your secrets for holding daily meetings in your team?
