The Ferris Wheel was an engineering marvel introduced at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Designed by engineer George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., the original Ferris Wheel stood 264 feet tall and was supported by two 140-foot steel towers connected by a 45-foot axle—the largest single piece of forged steel at that time. This iconic structure not only provided unparalleled views but also showcased the innovative spirit of engineering during that era.
