Designed by engineer George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., the original Ferris Wheel stood 264 feet tall and was supported by two 140-foot steel towers connected by a 45-foot axle—the largest single piece of forged steel at that time. This iconic structure not only provided unparalleled views but also showcased the innovative spirit of engineering during that era.
