A manufacturer of experimental and laboratory production lines for synthetic fibers needed to substantially increase engineering output across multiple disciplines simultaneously. The machines in question involved mechanical design, control system development, structural calculations, and flow analysis — all tightly interdependent. Finding individual specialists for each area was not sufficient; the client required a team that could work as a cohesive unit within the client’s own systems, adhere to internal documentation standards, and communicate fluently in German with the technical department.
GFE formed a dedicated three-person core team consisting of a lead engineer, a design engineer, and an automation engineer. The team was fully integrated into the client’s software environment, including SolidEdge, TIA Portal, SCADA platforms, and Smap 3D PDM. As the engagement progressed, the scope expanded to cover structural analysis of machine frames and support structures under wind, snow, icing, and seismic load conditions, as well as engineering of piping systems for air, water, and nitrogen. SolidWorks Flow Simulation and MathCad were used for fluid dynamic and analytical calculations. The team maintains alternating physical presence at the client’s facility in Germany to support direct collaboration with the in-house technical department.
