A manufacturer of shredding and sorting lines for scrap metal processing initially engaged GFE for a single defined task: the design of a machine frame. The client produces a complete range of equipment for scrap metal processing, from primary shredding through to type-based material separation, and required engineering support for specific development and documentation tasks where internal capacity was insufficient. After the first delivery, the client extended the scope progressively as confidence in the quality and speed of GFE’s output was established.
GFE delivered the initial frame design in Autodesk Inventor, producing 3D models and associated 2D manufacturing drawings to the client’s specification. Following this, the scope was extended to include modifications to a laser sorting machine and full metalwork design for several further machines across the product line. GFE also produced 3D visualisation videos from the Inventor models, which the client used for internal presentations and customer communication. The entire engagement was conducted remotely, with no on-site visits required, demonstrating that complex design work can be delivered effectively through well-structured remote collaboration when documentation standards and communication processes are properly established.
