A manufacturer of precision machine tool spindles was launching a new product line requiring CNC grinding programs for shaft profiles with a runout specification below 2μm. This level of precision in series grinding requires a programmer with direct experience in precision grinding processes — familiarity with wheel dressing cycles, thermal behaviour during grinding, and the relationship between cutting parameters and surface geometry. The client’s existing programming team did not have this background.
GFE provided a CNC specialist with a precision grinding background for a two-week on-site engagement at the client’s facility. The programs were developed directly on the production machines, with an iterative cycle of cutting, measurement, and parameter adjustment until the programs were stable and repeatable at the required accuracy level. The final programs, locked for series production, held an average runout of 1.4μm across the shaft profiles — below the 2μm specification. All programs were documented with the associated grinding parameters and setup conditions to allow the client’s team to maintain them in production.

Runout at 1.4 micron in series production. That is what we needed.
Programs are written and validated inside the client’s own CAM environment — using their software, file structure, and naming conventions. No separate system, no format conversion.
Each project is handled by programmers with direct experience on the relevant platform — Siemens NX, SolidCAM, Mastercam, or STUDER.
All programs are collision-checked and validated in Vericut before reaching the machine. This eliminates first-part scrap and reduces setup time on the shop floor.
All team members communicate in English. Senior programmers also speak German, enabling direct coordination with production and quality departments at client facilities in DACH.
